Don’t Be Naive To Let Satan Rob You Of Eternal Life

"Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8
2 Corinthians 11:3 “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ”
But we are not to let fear or anxiety consume our thinking, dominate our minds or take hold of our hearts. Darkness is certainly coming and judgment is at our very door. But as God’s people, we cannot allow any cloud of darkness to hide the great light of his promises of love and mercy toward his people. We must be well informed by God’s Word and his prophets, but we are not to dwell on prophetic knowledge so much that it takes over our lives. The devil would love for this to happen. He knows he can’t get us to doubt the Lord’s Word concerning judgment, so he will attempt to take us to another extreme and drive us to a fearful obsession with perilous times.
Simply put, Satan wants to rob you of all hope by consuming you with foreboding thoughts. But you cannot figure out the future through being totally preoccupied with this. In reality, it can get you bogged down in fear and obsessing about frightful events. The apostle Paul reassures us with this instruction: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8,)
In other words: You have heard all the warnings. Now, take heed to what God’s Word reveals and to what his watchmen are saying. And, finally, fix your thoughts on Jesus and his goodness. In a time when great judgments were falling on the nation all around him, Isaiah testified he had a double portion of peace. The same wonderful outlook that Isaiah had in the perilous times of his day is available to us also. This promise of rest applies to “all whose minds are stayed on him.” Isaiah was overwhelmed by what he saw happening in the world around him. But Scripture reveals he enjoyed great peace. How did he come into such a place of peace, with everything he saw? There were two reasons for it:
PRAYERS & MEDITATION
Compassionate and Gracious God, You say that where sin has increased, grace has increased all the more. Thank You for more than enough grace to cover my sinfulness. Please continue to pour out Your abundant grace on my life. Make my cup to overflow to the glory of God. I know that life is found in You, God, and I ask for the blessing of being counted as one of Your children. Let me taste and see that You are good. Fill me with the grace I need to live in this world and to serve others in Your image.
Lord Jesus. Bless me with Your guidance and wisdom during this season of my life and make my paths straight. Show me how to delight in Your law and Your word, precious Savior. Give me the time I need to be with You and to study Your scriptures. I know that the words of eternal life are with You, Lord Jesus, and so is Your truth. Let Your word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Keep my eyes fixed on You all the days of my life. Amen.
